Of course, his diary would be published, and Lone Survivor would be a bestseller.

The movie would be made, and a nation was riveted.

We were at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I think that really humanized.

The two guys from that time that I grew to have such incredible respect for were Marcus

Atrell and his peers, his Navy SEALs and Chris Kyle.

And I think the entire country was absolutely, and still is, riveted by this story.

So it has become a firefight.

Tell me, Marcus, what happens from there?

Once that thing started, it was kind of a free for all.

They had us covered on three sides, so the only way we could go was down the mountain.

And then a couple hours into that, they had come up from the base of the mountain from the village.

So they had us in a 360-degree loot.

There wasn't really anywhere we could go, which means you had to keep moving the entire time. The hardest thing to hit is a moving target, but because of the terrain and the

altitude, just making the movement was tough enough. By a couple hours into it, everyone

was so exhausted and shot up that they just systematically pick us apart one by one as we were

going down the mountain. And then at the end of the day, I was, I had slipped into this ravine and kind of was laid in between these rocks.

And I just laid there.
