And at the time, I felt that's a terrible idea. This will have been the earliest

presidential debate in American history and there's a reason for it. It was all a setup.

They told Joe, hey Joe, the people think you're not able to debate Trump,

but you know you can yeah well they knew he couldn't but

they needed a ground swell and I told you this at the time. They needed a groundswell of people, donors, down ballot,

you needed congressmen and senators go, he's got to go, get him off of there. So they sent him out to the wolves to be destroyed.

And of course, that's what happened.
