While the Italians are sip espresso in their many splendid piazzas, while the Spanish prepares to go back to the beaches, while America reopens its doors and the French go back to school,

we are still obsessed. Correction. Our media is still obsessed with one story and one story only.

Last night, Emily Maitliss, who has paid the princely sum of around about £300,000 by us

via the BBC license fee, launched a stinging and totally partisan attack on the government's chief

advisor at the start of Newsnight,

making out that she alone knew precisely what the rules were,

knowing full well that he broke those rules,

knowing everything about the story that people are still incredibly mixed up about, right?

Now, I'm going to tell you this.

She says that the polls are now been commissioned,

which show the Prime Minister's popularity is supposedly plummeting.

Problem is, of course, that polls are easily manipulated to get you the result that you want.

And in the case of two of the newspapers, the sample size is so tiny as to be completely and utterly insignificant.

I, for one, will not be joining in the ludicrous spectacle of chasing an imaginary quarry just to make a point. Here at talk radio, we are rather bigger than that,
