Mr. Sullivan spent his entire junior year of college (1992-1993) abroad at St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, England studying European history and philosophy. While in Oxford Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Oxford Union, the Oxford University Conservative Association, and the Oxford Law Society. Upon returning to the United States in June 1993 he took a year off from Gettysburg College to serve as office director of the Washington International Studies Council located on Capitol Hill. When you're looking for a cult symbolism in a movie, what types of a cult symbolism are we talking about?

Is it varied? Is there one that's more common than others?

When I analyze a movie, one of the first things I try to get a handle on is what kind of film are we talking about here?

Is this a Gnostic movie? Is this alchemical? It's a little of both.

Is it using symbols? Is it using themes? Is it using symbolism? I mean what type?

Are we talking, you know, it can be very subtle. It can be everything from music to a color scheme to costume me.

I mean this is all in the, it could be a symbol. I mean it could be something hanging on a wall, a picture.

So this all comes into play and these are things that you always have to be constantly on the lookout for.

I guess the one type of movie that always seems to stand out to me is the Gnostic theme.

I guess this has to do with the idea of self awakening and the idea of a person, just your average day protagonist, undergoing some sort of epiphany to realize there's something more.

And I guess that's very popular because I think audiences could really relate to that.

But no, I mean, you know, you're definitely dealing with, I mean you're doing things that overlap.

You definitely have elements of Kabbalah. You know, when you're dealing with Kabbalah, you're dealing with several things.

You could be dealing with sort of spheres of initiation, tests or trials of the soul as it were to progress towards some sort of inner wisdom.
