Summary

Today we're looking at Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 through 25

where the apostle Paul is highlighting for us what it looks like to live by the spirit of God.

Now that is a very religious sounding phrase.

So let's kind of define what we mean here. To live by

the spirit means a couple of things. It means first of all you're living by

his guidance in leadership.

The spirit of God who is a person lives within you if you are a person who's placed your faith

in Jesus Christ. He literally, really in every way lives

in you and he is there to interface with your soul to guide you, direct you, and lead you. So first of all, that is what it

means to live by the spirit. But secondarily, he is there to empower you in accomplishing what it is he's

leading you to do. You see he's not giving you this predefined set of rules and regulations and saying do these things.

I mean that just gives you criteria but doesn't give you any power to fulfill it.

You see the Holy Spirit is also the power by which we live the life he

wants us to live. And so living by the Spirit is doing what he desires but also doing it with his power and with his guidance.
