And we love these movies because we didn't understand them. The lines were awkward with us and the acting was horrible.

But the music though. So good.

I love the Blaxploitation film genre but gentlemen I'm not alone

fresh off the tail end of the civil rights movement the onset of this film genre was

targeted as an at an air quotes, urban audience, but quickly found a public well beyond.

The films were intended to be movies that starred black people marketed solely to the black

audience, but they instantly became a major part of the zeitgeist, and they still

influence filmmakers today.

There's many qualifiers as to why these movies were so momentous, and the soundtracks were

one of the most crucial.

The leads were always strong but the plots were frequently not.

Really?
