1:09.6	the question is what what are Christians to think of this sort of thing what are we to make of it.
1:15.0	First there is we want to reject from the outset way simplistic understanding of what compassion means.
1:29.0	And the mistake, the way this sort of thing usually works is it's playing on the tendency that we have to confuse the duties of an individual, good Samaritan-like, you know, a good Samaritan type duties, you find a guy beat up by the side of the road, who was a neighbor to him, well the one who took him to the inn and paid
1:55.1	for his stay there and who applied medicinal oil and so on.
2:01.2	That guy was the neighbor to him. The priest and the leavite who crossed over and passed
2:05.8	by the other side was not his neighbor. Now if you take that sort of situation and you apply it straight across to nations, you're going to find yourself in a bind
2:20.8	because the dynamics, the variables are wildly different.
2:26.3	What do I mean?
2:27.3	Well, let's say you find a guy beat up by the side of the road and you help him out you help a
2:34.9	guy out that's pretty straightforward and you know that the help you're providing
2:39.5	actually is help but what does it mean to find a country beat up by the side of the road? What does
2:48.0	that look like exactly? And if you have a country that is in shambles, and you send a bunch of money to that country,
2:57.0	and the dictator running it uses the money to feed his army,
