Today, there will be no catchy Philemon song. There'll be some other music or something. I'm going to have Jeff play something different and it's going to be fun. It's going to be great too. But no, we're treating it a little different today because I have got something that I need to do. And I'm recording this, this little thing we're doing right now, after I've already completed the 42-minute episode that I recorded for you today. That is crazy. That is not

normally what we do around here, but I wanted to cover an important topic in its entirety in one

day so we can get to moving forward again, getting toward the book of Philemon. Here's what

happened. Yesterday, I popped open a can of worms. I dropped

a term, the Septuagint, which is a big, ambiguous, catch-all, shorthand term for a whole bunch of

writings that happened between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Some of them were in Hebrew,

and then quickly got translated into Greek, and we don't have the Hebrew anymore. Some of them were written in Hebrew in the first place and a small percentage of these writings

became very popular, very cherished. But these in between the Testament's writings that are in Greek,

they kind of lingered in limbo for a very long time. And it wasn't really until the

1500s that solid lines got drawn on what different expressions of Christianity do with

these books in between. So what we're going to do today is we are going to talk about how

the New Testament happened and why it is wildly reliable, the most reliable, of all of the reliable.

Then we're going to talk about how the Old Testament happened. And that's a little harder process to track with.

And we're going to talk about why it is wildly reliable. And then we're going to talk about how this in-between

era of writings happened and what we do with that and what we've done with it historically

and why they are different. Here's why you're getting this little bonus disclaimer, second

double extra intro here at the beginning, though. I know there are some of you who are here, and you're not

sure what to make of God, and you're not sure what to make of faith. And through our first 10-ish episodes here, there have been a few moments where we've kind of got into the deep water, and it's been a little bit intimidating. And you're like, dang, do I have to be conversant? And do I have to know all that stuff to believe in God.

And it's kind of intimidating.

I wanted to talk to you before this episode happened and say, I'm so glad you're here. Do not be discouraged by this. Anything awesome that is worth your time that you go and get into and start to peel back the layers on, you will realize at some point, whoa, this is

awesome for a reason. And there are a lot of layers to this. That is initially intimidating,
