Summary
Since childhood, she’s seen them: the laughing men in the corners, the faceless figures at her bedside, the man who floats instead of walking. Wherever she goes, the haunting follows.
It began in a small house where taps turned on by themselves and voices whispered through the walls. It followed her into a church house, where a figure that looked like her grandfather appeared — and pinned her to the bed. Later, in her aunt’s home, she saw him again: tall, silent, eyes glowing green. When the lights went out, something lifted her off the floor.
Now, as a mother, the fear has changed shape. The man is still there, pacing the hallways. A ghostly woman watches from the reflection in the window. And sometimes, hovering above her baby’s crib, a dark shape pulses with faint, living light — as if the haunting has found a new target.
She’s tried prayer, faith, smudging, even denial. Nothing works. Because this isn’t a haunted house — it’s a haunted life.
And when the laughter returns, when the taps turn on by themselves, and when the man without a face turns toward the crib again… she knows the worst part isn’t that he’s still here.
It’s that he’s learning.
