Here's the scene.

You're seated around a table with some friends,

and the subject comes up of cancer. And your friend says,

it's such a horrible disease, so much suffering. Everyone nods. And then, he says, which is why it's imperative that we finally pass legislation to cure cancer by giving everyone who suffers from it free Advil.

And you say, I don't think

Advil will cure cancer. I don't think that's the best solution to

this problem. And your friend turns to you, not unkindly, and says,

listen, you come from a and your friend turns to you, not unkindly, and says, listen.

You come from a privileged background,

so you don't really understand cancer.

You're very intelligent, you're a very successful man.

You're college educated.

You're from an educated family, so you don't

understand just how bad cancer is. If you'd grown up in a family with cancer, or you'd lived

in a cancer-ridden neighborhood, you would know how horrible cancer is and why it's so vital that we do something about it by giving everyone free Advil.

Right, again. Okay, I've not clearly communicated this. I'm not saying

cancer isn't bad. We I think I speak for everybody here. We seem to have a

consensus that cancer is bad. We all agree on that.

We all agree something should be done. That is not my point of contention. What I'm disagreeing with is the whole

Advil solution to the problem that's that's the issue I'm having here
