Have you ever made a decision out of haste without stopping and thinking about the consequences?

We all have rushing through the obvious choices to a conclusion based sometimes on

social pressure or what seems most expedient or maybe cost-efficient.

A decision based more on earthly personal motives than eternal godly consideration.

The theme of this meditation from Proverbs chapter 18 is avoiding haphazard decisions being

selective to paths chosen by God. So to begin your meditation, just slip into a space, a time,

and a place where you can ponder and reflect your choices. You may start by listening and joining

into this alternating reading and prayer from Proverbs chapter 14, 16, and 19.

And simply respond, Lord God, help me choose wisely. There is a way that seems right to a man,

but its end is the way to death. Lord God, help me choose wisely.

The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Lord God, help me choose wisely. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the

purpose of the Lord that will stand. Lord God, help me choose wisely.

Spend a few moments now in silent prayer, just replacing words of anxious rush

with peaceful resolve, replacing words of impatience with words of waiting,

words of immaturity with words of wisdom, and words about you replaced with words about God.

But the silence continues as you become even more deeply aware of God,

alert to his spirit and mindful of Christ, as you become more aware of your breathing in stillness,
