Summary

The Clippers finally win a game in the series, but Nate and Danny disagree on how much that changes the outlook. Is Milwaukee now…..the favorite in their series with the Nets after Kyrie’s injury? Phoenix powers through Denver in 4. Plus a look at possible contracts and destinations for the free agent small forward crop, including Kawhi Leonard, Nicolas Batum, Talen Horton-Tucker, Kelly Oubre, DeMar DeRozan, and (not many) more. So a weekend of playoff basketball is in the books and certainly we needed to talk about all of that is starting with Utah

0:08.3

Clippers, but the thing we need to discuss first, which is really a shame, is just how much injuries are now affecting these playoffs.

0:17.8

I mean, you also start off with Jamal Murray and I mean Clay Thompson's been up for the whole years.

0:23.3

You can't even talk about that. He was a team wasn't in the playoffs, but Murray was out already.

0:27.9

Jalen Braun was out already before the start of the playoffs, but the list of players who just within these playoffs have been affected by injury.

0:37.8

It's just insane. The list of all star players and probably four of the top 10 players in the NBA have been significantly affected by injuries and a bunch of maybe through four other guys who are in the top 25.

0:50.3

And then like every of every single team has some role players that are out to me. It's just crazy LeBron, obviously with the high ankle sprain. I think claiming that he was playing at his usual level is would not be realistic as it wasn't for Steph Curry when he came back in 2016.

1:06.4

Anthony Davis, we know what happened with him. Harden has played 43 seconds in this series.

1:11.6

Kyrie just sprained his ankle. We'll talk more about that. Obviously going forward. Joel and Bied missed the game. Thank God he looks like he's 100% but you know that can change it at any time he has torn his meniscus.

1:23.2

Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell is struggling. We'll talk about that some Chris Paul had basically three games where he was pretty useless for the sons.

1:33.0

Sorry, this is just I was hopeful coming into these playoffs that we were going to get a pretty good playoffs that there are some guys who are coming back for injury, but it seemed like everyone was going to be ready and it just it hasn't happened yet.

1:44.6

Every team as of right now, even that's left in this other than the sons is dealing with significant injury issues.

1:52.1

Yeah, and the sons already dealt with one and it is true that the playoffs are almost always a war of attrition and whether you want to go back through various champions of recent vintage or deeper vintage, you see that the volume of high end players that are either unavailable or limited is dramatic and we just make the best of it.

2:12.2

I mean, that's all that's all we can really do, but it has of course changed the tenor and dynamics of all of these series.

2:19.2

And one of those is where we'll start Clippers Jazz where not only did Mike Conley miss his third straight game, not only is Serge Baca a valued role player out for the Clippers for he had back surgery so he will be out for presumably the remainder of the playoffs.

2:32.6

We don't really have anything further on a Baca as of now, but also Donovan Mitchell has been dealing you missed 18 games.

2:39.6

And it definitely was at the end of the regular season with an ankle spray and it has been some degree of re-indering it at a couple points in the playoffs also missed the first game of the of the Jazz first round series against the Gris and one of those games affected by it though I don't think it determined who the winner of this game was.

2:56.6

It's still, you know, we have to wonder about the lingering effects of Donovan Mitchell's ankle.

3:00.6

The injury we saw in game two when he was absolutely on part, it kind of happened towards the end of I believe it was the second quarter when he was in the midst of that run of scoring 59 points in two halves and did not have the same type of impact in the second half of game two, although they did of course win that game.

3:21.6

And then in this game seemed to be playing really well. I mean, some of the three pointers that he's making are, you know, getting to kind of Damon's staff type of territory when he is really heating up in this series.

3:33.6

But it was a fairly innocuous play. Again, it's the right foot, the right ankle.

3:38.6

And I couldn't even really see an injury mechanism of it. You know, maybe his ankle was kind of turned a little bit different at a little bit different of an ankle,
