Once again to Pediacast.

It is a pediatric podcast for moms and dads.

This is Dr. Mike, coming to you from the campus of nationwide children's hospital.

We're in Columbus, Ohio.

We're calling this one Playing It Safe in the summer.

We want to welcome you to the program.

We're covering material this week that we have talked about

plenty of times in the past on PDACAST. In fact, I'm pretty sure we've covered some

aspect of summer safety pretty much every summer, so nothing entirely new this week. However,

the reminder is always important year after year. You know, we wanted you to get outside with your kids and run and jump and play and swim.

But we also want you and your kids to be safe in the sun, on the playground, in the water, as you ride bikes and skateboards and rollerblades.

Because there are hazards that come with those activities.

There will also be dogs biting and insects stinging,

plants that cause rashes, so lots of possible dangers and uncomfortable things all around. And yet,

the benefit of getting outside during the summertime far outweighs the risks. Yeah, we still want you to be smart

and safe. So we'll run through some of the most important safety tips for you and your

family to keep in mind this summer just to freshen you up as the days get longer and warmer.
