You know we've recently had a lot of conversations here on the show about planting more natives

0:18.0

and of course natives depend on where you live so native to you.

0:22.2

So myself here in San Diego I might have a different entire set of natives that I might

0:26.5

be planting compared to our guest today who is Brianna Bosch of Blossom and Branch Farm.

0:31.1

I know we've given a little primer written on your farm but you have these fields where

0:36.9

you're growing flowers but then you also have this wooded section and you're also doing

0:41.4

sort of a regenerative flower ag style approach and so obviously I would imagine natives

0:46.1

make a pretty big piece of that strategy right?

0:48.7

For sure especially Colorado I mean we're dealing with drought situations and you know

0:54.3

there's always water is always an issue here and maybe not so much for you lucky you.

1:00.1

But for us water has become especially in the last three years a huge problem.

1:06.8

So we kind of started yeah going down that road of like how do we diversify and also

1:15.8

how do we safeguard the farm from you know say in two or three years it's totally feasible

1:21.7

that urban farms get cut from being able to access the water that we need.

1:27.9

We have an ag ditch which is super helpful but our ag ditch water is super salty we have

1:32.9

to invest in this huge filter and then if we don't get the snow pack we need we don't

1:36.0

get that water either so it's like whether we're using city water or ag water there's

1:40.4

just water issues and so that's kind of what led us to start down that path of like okay

1:46.1

what can we grow that requires little water and a lot of that stuff is just happens to

1:51.1

be native to our area so that's kind of where it started and now it's turned into this

1:56.0

whole other escapade you know where now I have all these like rants against invasive plants

2:00.0

and and all of that stuff that happens on my page but you've heard me ramp up more.
