Summary

I've got a spare raised bed that I'm dedicating to pollinators and beneficial insects. I talk about them a lot on the podcast, so I figured it's time to put my money where my mouth is and develop a dedicated bed! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello everyone welcome back to the epic gardening podcast today we are going to talk about something that I've been wondering about because I just went through an entire revamp of my front yard garden. So I put in, let's see, five extra beds and I have an

0:17.2

in-ground bed as well now. And so now I'm starting to think, okay, well, there's a lot

0:22.0

going on in the front yard now versus what what there was

0:25.1

going on in 2017 and so the question I have is well my gardening method is

0:30.6

primarily based on doing as little work as possible to get the most out.

0:35.6

And so that lead me to the question of, hey, how do I get pollinators?

0:50.0

How do I get bugs to do the work for me, whether that be to pollinate the plants

0:54.3

that I grow that need pollination,

0:55.9

or whether that be to get insects in

0:58.7

that actually attack the insects that I want out.

1:05.6

will munch on aphids. Something like a lacwing is very, very similar in its effect except

1:10.9

for lacwings actually are ravenous and they'll eat much more than just

1:14.3

aphids.

1:16.1

So then the question becomes, well, you of course can just buy these in, you can buy ladybugs

1:20.9

and lace wings, but how do you keep them there?

1:23.4

Well one good way to do that is to plant a section of your garden.

1:29.2

So if you're doing raised beds or you're doing in ground,

1:31.7

dedicate one section or one bed to plants that will both

1:35.3

build your soil but also attract both pollinators and beneficial insects. So the
