We're gonna talk about plant spacing in hydroponics because plant spacing in soil is a a topic that's pretty well understood and of course there

are different philosophies on it, but plant spacing in hydroponics is a completely different issue.

hydroponics. So, well what do you need to know?

It's a tough question to answer because we have to understand a couple simple concepts first.

Once you have a grass on these ideas, well then it's going to be very simple for you to figure

out how to space plants in your hydroponic system.

So first, root development.

In soil, plants need ample space for their roots to seek out nutrients.

So soil does many things for plants and here are a few of those things.

It's going to provide stability for the root system and thus the plant itself.

It's going to provide pockets of oxygen.

Of course it will retain water and hopefully it's going to be full of nutrients for your plants as well.
