As we began talking about my own upcoming wedding, we realized that weddings are not unlike life itself,

both capable of holding much joy, while at the same time acknowledging deep sorrow.

Well, we are talking about how to prepare and how to attend major events.

But one major event that we're speaking about happens to be your wedding, Rachel.

And if you could just put a little bit more, like what's happening?

You are departing from the fair city that has been your place of life and nurture for a long season, and you're departing.

So there is, for me and for many of us who have loved you over many years, this wedding holds incredible joy, but also there is loss involved.

So as I attend, as our community attends, it will be felt different for many of us than your relatives who will be coming with nothing

And in some sense, though there's incredible joy for you, there's also a departure that
