If you want the single biggest challenge in DIY backcountry hunting, go north for Moose.

Now this is a statement that even I could argue various ways there are a lot of very

challenging DIY backcountry hunts and of course it doesn't really always work to lump them all into one category.

You could have a backcountry Elkhon that's extreme, right?

Or you could have a Backcountry Moose Hunt that's relatively easy.

But if you take this type of adventure as a whole, I really do think that a deep country on

your own Moose Hunt in Alaska is about as extreme and challenging as it gets.

Now this episode was prompted by a listener's question.

We're going to call this listener Todd and Todd is from

Utah where I was also born and raised. He's quite an experienced hunter there in

Utah but he hasn't hunted in any other states.

He dreams of hunting Moose in Alaska,

but he can't afford a guided hunt and prefers DIY anyway.

He's middle-aged.

Well, I wasn't quite middle-aged yet, but I was approaching it when I started seriously researching

Alaska Moose Hunts about seven or eight years ago, and finally went on my first one and as it happens I'm planning another one

I'm scheduled for another one this fall so this is a topic that kind of

resonates with me, right?

Because I'm thinking ahead, starting to plan for it as well.
