Peregrino Ignatian Pathways, aka PIPIP. Today is number seven, covering rules number 13 and 14

in the discernment of spirits from the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Take Lord, receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will.

All I have and call my own, you have given all to me.

To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours. Do with it what you will. Give me only your love and

learned. Anytime you think you're getting something in prayer, you check it against divine revelation

and the evidence. And that evidence can either be natural or supernatural.

So if the Magisterium or even the evidence online on any certain topic, any current issue in the church crisis,

or anything even that refers to health or medicine feels at odds with your topic, or rather is at odds with your feeling on a topic, well,

your feelings are probably off. You always should go with the truth of natural law or divine

revelation instead of your feelings. Also, as far as feelings, remember, Satan can imitate

zeal and excitement, but he can never imitate peace. There's even a little caveat on that peace thing.

That peace that God gives usually comes with fortitude to be courageous. Many people who try to

teach on the spiritual exercises think that peace can be just the path of least resistance where you

have the least amount of fear. So a good spiritual director will needle your whole claims to peace a little bit to figure out

if what you claim is peace is simply the easiest thing, the thing you want to do,
