If you have your Bible this morning, let me invite you to turn to Jeremiah, chapter 29.

We're going to be in Jeremiah, chapter 29 today.

So if you've got a copy of the scripture, you can follow along there if not, the words are going to be on the screen.

But let me just add my voice to all the fathers today, happy fathers day.

And I'm so grateful for our fathers today.

And my dad is an amazing man.

And I find myself, I just turned 40 this year, I find myself doing exactly what I said I wasn't going to do.

And that is do everything that my dad did.

So my dad was a pastor.

And so I said I'm not going to become a pastor.

Well, I'm celebrating 19 years in ministry this year.

You know, I said, hey, we're not going to buy a minivan.

Well, when we went to four kids four years ago, we bought a minivan.

And you know, you go on and on and on.

And I said, and I'm not going to follow my dad's footsteps.

One of the ones I'm struggling with the most is my dad is a very frugal man, very frugal man.

And when I was growing up going out to eat, that was a privilege.

That was something we got to do as a reward.

My kids think that going out to eat is a right.

You know, I remember the other day we were going somewhere and our kids were like, hey, can we stop at Chick-fil-A?

And I was like, listen, we've already eaten out today.

And they're like, well, yeah, we've just eaten out once today.
