I've lost family members and friends to it, and my uncle currently has stomach cancer,

but I have no personal experience with the diagnosis.

So I thought maybe my inklings or opinions were irrelevant.

But I couldn't help but always wonder how actual cancer patients and survivors felt about the monetizing of cancer.

And along with it came the infantilization or the sexualization of the disease.

Though those around me seemed content to buy pink items to celebrate breast cancer awareness

or do runs for organizations that were unclear on where their donations were going,

I always felt uneasy.

I knew Susan G. Coleman was disliked by most cancer patients and survivors,

but I didn't really know why.

And save the Tata's became increasingly gross to me as I grew more hyper aware of my gender
