Once upon a time, there lived a fair maiden called Katrina, who resided in the country with her family.

They owned and worked a farm, which had quite a few cows, a good amount of crop fields, and too many chickens to count.

One day, it was her turn to go to market to sell crops from the farm.

While she was there, a young man approached.

I'm piff-pat poultry, he said.

Katrina, she replied.

Quite pleased to make your acquaintance, I'll take two sacks of corn.

Once Katrina had given him the corn and collected the two silver coins for payment,

Piff Pat Paltry asked,

Might I call on you?

Katrina thought him quite dashing, so she agreed.

It was not even a week when Piff Pat Poultry arrived at the farm.

Their first visit was quite perfect.

Piff Pat Poultry asked Katrina so many questions,

and he did make silly jokes which made her laugh.

He visited the next Tuesday and the Tuesday after that. They grew quite fond of each other. One Tuesday when Piff Pat Paltry arrived,

he did not go in search of Katrina, but instead found her father.
