figures in the history of world sport, Formula One founder, Bernie Eccleston. This weekend should have been about the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, one of the most prestigious events of the year in the sport that he created.

Instead, this weekend's racing has been eclipsed by two explosive scandals centered around one person, him.

First, it emerged that former world champion Nelson Piquet had racially abused British superstar Louis Hamilton,

branding in the N-word several times in a podcast.

Piquet has now apologised, but denied the term he used was racist, even though it was racist.

Well, astonishingly, in an interview with my old TV show, Good Morning Britain this morning, Bernie Egleston defended PKK. And then

in comments which sparked a global furorre, he then defended Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
