An Oscar-winning role in Jerry Maguire made him iconic, also landed

in one of cinema's most iconic catchphrases. Show me to my dad. Tom Cruise, I love you, brother.

Anxious to protect his superstar status, he turned down roll after role, rejecting Spielberg

for Amistad, and Michael Mann for collateral, even turned down the lead in the last King of

Scotland for role with Netté Forrest Whitaker, the Academy's top award.

And after a lost decade in the Hollywood Shadows, he lost his shine once and for all,

facing a spate of allegations of that inappropriate behaviour with women.

This year, he confessed to charges of forcible touching two other counts of non-consensual contact,

narrowly escaping jail.
