Today's story comes from Pierceiers Ford.

Pierce was born in Ireland and from an early age he absolutely loved motorcycles.

As a child my parents thought I was from another planet because I was into nothing but motorcycles. I would say I'm one of those people I lived to ride.

Piers's love for motorcycles persisted past childhood.

When he was 26, he bought a Honda VFR, the biggest bike he'd ever had.

It was 1991, and he was living in New York City.

So I had the bike exactly one week and I went for a ride to pick up my date who lived in New Jersey

and I was on top of the world the very next day was my birthday so you can

imagine I'm young I'm in Manhattan I have a job I have a motorcycle I have a girl

it's like this is, it's the American dream, it really is.

So I picked her up, we went for a ride, dropped her home, and I'm now riding back from New Jersey through Manhattan over the 59th Street Bridge and it's evening.

So a kind of twilight. I'm at the lead of the left-hand side of traffic, two lanes,

east direction, saw a cart indicating turn left I

slowed down thought he saw me I'm in the intersection and he goes for it. The bike and I got hit. I remember flying through the air. I remember seeing

the motorcycle on its front wheel like it's doing a pirouette and then crashing to the ground and and it was all very

slow-mo. I just remember lying on the ground and I knew I was badly hurt I just knew it.
