Could you please introduce yourself to the jury spelling your last name for the court?

My name is Ash Belier, spelled V-A-L-L-I-E-R.

And where do you work?

I work at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory.

And where did you go to school?

I got my bachelor degree in biochemistry and cell biology from UC San Diego and a master

degree in biomedical forensic sciences from Boston University.

Now following your education, where did you go to work from there?

Directly after I got my degree in Boston University, I worked at the Broad Institute.

And what did you do at the Broad Institute?

I did quality control checks of items that potentially could be tested for pharmaceutical use.

Now, how long have you worked at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory?

A little over six years. Now, is the State Lab accredited? It is. And by whom?

A-N-A-B. And what does A-N-A-B stand for? It stands for ANZ National Accreditation Board.

And the ANZ within the ANAB, what does that stand for?

That is another acronym that I don't recall right now.

Now, as part of that accreditation process, do you want to go any sort of type of proficiency testing?
