| 1:35.9 | his opening statement is the way of blessedness, blessed is this individual and |
| 1:40.3 | blessed is the other and so on. Reminding us that Christian discipleship is |
| 1:45.2 | marked by a reversal of values, and in verses 20 to 26 the follower of Jesus is |
| 1:52.9 | described as being one who prizes what the world thinks pitiable and suspects |
| 2:00.5 | what the world thinks is desirable. So the follower of Jesus is going to be |
| 2:07.5 | identified by the way in which he or she responds to where the mainstream of |
| 2:13.0 | a culture is going. And when it endorses that which is counter to what Jesus |
| 2:19.8 | teaches, then the follower of Jesus will suspect that kind of emphasis and will |
| 2:26.9 | be prepared to be regarded as something of a loser because he embraces that |
| 2:32.3 | which the world thinks is pitiable. So Mark 1 of Christian discipleship is a |
