In 2017, Sadie was at the grocery store with her partner, Steve.

Sadie spaces out, wanders away as you do, and wanders back to him, just as he's throwing items into his cart.

He was in the junk food aisle just like tossing all of these snacks into our cart, which is

very unusual for him.

And so I plucked out a particularly egregious item.

It was a Safeway Select brand generic peanut butter.

And I held it up and I said, since when do you buy generic?

And Steve looked back at me and he was absolutely horrified

and actually looked a little scared. And I almost looked behind me to see what had my like six

four husband spooked. But then I realized that this guy was not my husband. He was just sort of a

Steve-shaped stranger who I had randomly accosted and interrogated him about his grocery shopping.
