Summary

In this installment of Physical Friday, I go over the ways that I was able to progress towards the full lie back quad stretch. This is one of the more difficult stretches from Joe Hippensteel’s Ultimate Human Performance. Achieving the full lie back position was very difficult for me but the work was worth it as my knee pain from Patellar tendinitis has disappeared. We can get very tight in the quads and hip flexors from sitting too much. This stretch has helped me to get back to running and feeling my best. my way into it definitely didn't happen in the beginning so the lie back quad

stretch is what we're talking about today the reason you would want to do the live back quad stretch is because a lot of us get super tight and short in the hip flexors and in the quads because we sit a lot, right? So you may be sitting in the boat, you may be sitting in the

car driving to wherever you're going, you may be sitting all day at your desk, a lot of

sitting. And when you're sitting a lot, these muscles get shorter, they get tight, and it's very, very

tough to loosen them up.

And some people have a difficult time even sitting in the position that I'm in because their ankle flexibility is so poor.

So you may have to start in this position here and start stretching your quads.

The thing that I had to do, I was able to sit on my ankles, so I was able to start back like this,

but I could only get back a little bit.
