This week, Phone Trees.

All right, let's get started.

All right, Mark, I know we've mentioned before phone trees when we've talked and done

casts about managing through a crisis or what to do if

something is happening with your organization or your directs.

But we've never told people how to do it, right? I never told people how do you actually create a phone tree and then how do you use it? So that's what we're going to talk about today, right? Yeah Yeah in fact this cast comes out of two

instances that are essentially rooted in time to some degree one was

Hurricane Sandy our good friend and client Danire, who's worked on Wall Street for a number of years,

shared with us through a series of conversations his experience with his team being dispersed

and being unable to use typical services and was very helpful.

And then recently, this cast is being recorded in January of 2015.

Sony Corporation was hacked.

And one of the things that was mentioned

in the article in the Wall Street Journal about it

was that their email servers were down and so they had to use a phone tree.

And I mentioned that in passing at a client and someone said, what's a phone tree? And I said, well it's a thing where you activate, you know, you call and says, why

would you ever need that?

Why didn't you just use email?

And I said, and I repeated myself, said, well, their email servers were out.

And the guy says, well, why would your email servers be out? I said, well, because servers were out and the guy says well why would your email servers

be out I said well because they were hacked first of all there was just this this
