Little background, for those of you who don't remember, back in May,

Governor Kathy Hokel announced that New York would be the largest state in the nation to require

bell-to-bell restrictions on smartphones in K-12 schools, an exact quote from the governor.

The goal being to promote distraction-free learning,

but also to protect the mental health of students following last year's law, restricting

addictive social media feeds for minors. Another quote from the governor, I know our young people

succeed when they're learning and growing, not clicking and scrolling.
