Welcome to the Bible study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. We continue on where we left off with chapter

2, verse 12, do everything without grumbling. Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed,

not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation

with fear and trembling, for it is God who

works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without

grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault

in a warped and crooked generation.

Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life,

and then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the

sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you, so that you

too should be glad and rejoice with me. Okay, that's a rather dense set of paragraphs there.

The first thing it says is, therefore, my dear friends, and whenever you see the word

therefore, that's a great time to pause and figure out what it's there for.

Remember where we were last time as we were talking about the imitating the humility of

Christ, Christ who did not consider equality with God something to be

grasped, but instead humbled himself and died on a cross.

And so it says, because then, therefore, Christ had this humility and Christ did this for us.

Therefore, you should, as you've always done, you've been obedient, Paul is saying,

and I know that you've been obedient. You've been obedient when I was there, and you've been
