Welcome everybody to the 500th episode of podcast unlocked here in June 29, 2021.

I'm Ryan McCaffrey with me as always Miranda Sanchez, Destin Ligary, and the mystery gentleman.

No, he's not a mystery at all. You know Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox.

Phil, thanks so much for being our special guest here on our celebratory 500th episode.

500 episodes is fantastic, Ryan. Just congrats to you and the team for all that you've brought to the community.

Such an amazing milestone and I'm proud to be able to be here.

Well, it's been a while actually since you've been here, so it kind of worked out well that way.

It's not like we're just double dipping that you were just on. It's been I had to look it up.

It was unlocked for 37. You joined us right in the early days of the work from home pandemic.

And we had plenty to talk about then and obviously a lot's happened in the year plus since then.

So, but this is also the 20th anniversary of Xbox. So you're there. We're celebrating on locks 500th episode Xbox is 20th year.

There is a lot. So I'm really grateful to you for taking the time out to do this.

And so I kind of there will obviously we'll talk about a lot of current events stuff,

but I kind of want to start in the spirit of the 20th anniversary of Xbox by asking you as somebody who's been there for the entire ride.

Looking back on 20 years, what do you think is the best year in Xbox history?

Because I have an answer, but I'm sure it's what your answer is.

Ryan, I'm always going to pick this year. I'm always going to pick this year because I'm always looking forward.

Like it's just when I think about that, you know, the vision that the team has, we just came out obviously from an amazing Xbox, but that's the showcase.

I just really love how the brand is showing up right now. I mean, the only other year I can go back to is obviously launch year and just as somebody who is working on building games back in the day launch is just always something special.
