Summary

This week, we have our very first sponsor - Blue Apron! To get three of their great meals for free as well as free shipping, go to blueapron.com/TPG It was a crazy week in foreign policy, and the guys start with the biggest of all the big stories - the missile strike on Syria authorized by President Trump in response to Syria using illegal chemical weapons on its own people. The move was a major departure both from policy under President Obama and President Trump's own prior statements on the wisdom of military involvement in Syria. Mike and Jay discuss whether the president made the right call and what this might mean for the future. Next, the Guys discuss the visit of Egyptian President / military strongman Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who President Trump not only welcomed, but embraced. Mike sees this as a mistake, while Jay believe it's good diplomacy. After that is some domestic policy - the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Just as everyone predicted, Democrats filibustered his nomination, Republicans changed the rules to disallow filibusters of Supreme Court nominees, and Gorsuch was then confirmed on a largely party-line vote. Senators from both parties, as well as Mike and Jay, regret that things have come to this point, but the confirmation process is yet another example of how very polarized our politics has become. But wait - there's more! The Guys get into the latest developments in the Russia / Trump investigations, and then wrap things up by talking about the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-politics-guys/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Long-time listeners might recall that early on, we promised that while at some point we need to bring on advertisers just to keep the show going,

0:36.8

that we'd never promote anything we didn't feel on advertisers just to keep the show going, that we'd never

0:37.9

promote anything we didn't feel really good about. And because of this, there actually were a few

0:42.6

earlier opportunities that we had to turn down. Now, but today, we're happy to say that we're

sponsored by Blue Apron, the number one fresh ingredient and recipe delivery service in the United

They work to support a sustainable food system.

1:08.3

That's a particularly big deal for me because my wife Kimberly, who's also a political scientist,

1:10.7

is really passionate about sustainability. She even teaches

1:11.7

an entire class on it. And she's, so she's made me a pretty big sustainability advocate, too.

1:17.9

Jay, I don't know. Have you checked out their latest meal options? I have. I have. And it's great.

1:22.2

And also, I want to say from my standpoint, as someone with three kids who are always going places, it's great

1:29.5

as far as convenience goes, having everything ready to go, not trying to figure out what's

1:34.2

for dinner, what are we going to cook, it's all there, you put it together, and it's a great

thing for the family to do together.

1:40.6

Yeah, absolutely.

1:41.6

I mean, and there's great stuff, not just for me, I noticed, but for Kimberly, who doesn't
