Summary

This week, Mike and Jay start by taking a look at the first big legislative push of President Trump and House Republicans: The failed repeal and replace vote on Obamacare. They talk about what happened, why it happened, what it means for Obamacare, and the possible paths forward for Republicans. Then it's on to Judge Neil Gorsuch's Supreme Court confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. 0:23.5	My co-host this week, as always, is Cleveland Area Attorney and sometime Republican strategist Jay Carson.
0:29.9	We start this week with a congressional vote that didn't happen.
0:34.0	House Republicans, the same bunch that managed to pass over 50 repeal votes when
0:38.7	Barack Obama was in the White House, found out on Friday that actually governing is pretty
0:43.5	tough. Speaker Paul Ryan, who had initially scheduled the vote on the seventh anniversary of
0:49.0	Obamacare first becoming law, first delayed and then actually pulled the vote when he realized it wouldn't
0:55.2	gain a majority.
0:56.3	And this despite Republicans having a 44-seat majority in the chamber, despite the long-standing
1:03.2	Republican promise to repeal Obamacare as soon as possible, and President Trump's
1:09.7	vaunted dealmaker abilities, including a threat to
1:13.3	reluctant Republicans that they would lose their seats if they didn't go along. Now, there's a lot to
1:18.3	break down here. So, Jay, I was thinking we could first look at what happened and why it happened,
1:24.0	then talk about the future of Obamacare, which Speaker Ryan said will be the
1:28.0	law of the land for the foreseeable future, and then maybe talk a little bit about what's
1:32.5	next in terms of legislative strategy and goals for the Trump administration and congressional
1:37.5	Republicans.
