Good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening, wherever you are. And welcome to the politics guys with your host, Jay Carson and Michael Baranowski.

0:17.3

Welcome to the politics guys. I'm Michael Baranowski, a political scientist at Northern Kentucky University.

0:23.5

My co-host this week, as always, is Cleveland Area Attorney and sometime Republican strategist Jay Carson.

Our top story this week is a Democratic primary in South Carolina, where, as expected, Hillary Clinton breathed to a win over Bernie Sanders.

0:38.6

Now, both Jay and I predicted a big win for Clinton.

0:40.8

We guessed 20 points, but we had no idea how completely she would just crush Sanders, winning

0:46.6

73.5% of the vote and getting 39 of South Carolina's 53 delegates.

1:29.8

And I think that's sort of the death knell for Sanders.

1:37.0

You know, as we've said, he was never going to be that competitive in the South for a whole variety of reasons.

1:45.2

This shows that he's really not competitive in the South.

1:48.9

Yeah.

1:49.5

And, you know, he did do a lot of things towards the end to try to appeal to the African-American community.

1:59.0

He really did some outreach, but it was too little too late when you consider

2:03.7

that the Clintons have built this base for 20 years now.

2:08.3

Yeah, building up a network in the African American communities. And for Bernie Sanders,

2:13.7

it just feels like sort of a bolted on type of thing. It's not where he's most comfortable.
