Extra special edition of PFT PM, occasioned by the fact that after 19 years,

as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, will be stepping down.

This was making the rounds within an hour or so before it actually broke.

I had caught wind from a GM with another team that this person had heard it was happening,

and then this person said two words, it's happening. Cudos to ESPN for breaking it.

I was missed it by that much, but it doesn't matter.

It was going to get out.

The team announced it a few minutes later.

It's something that wasn't going to keep quiet for very long.

And it sure sounds as if Mike Tomlin knew going into last night's game against the Houston Texans that he would be moving on.

It still is hard to imagine him not coaching, coach's coach.

He's been coaching consistently since 1995 when he was the receiver's coach at VMI,

a year after he had finished his college playing career.

Continuously, every year since then, he has been a coach.

And he undoubtedly will be a coach again

as ben rothersberger said in the aftermath of that ugly late november home loss to the bills

it's just time and i think it's time for both sides and look from tomlin's perspective

he heard the chance, fire Tomlin.

If you come back for another year and you struggle, is it really going to get any better?

And for whatever reason or some combination of reasons, you get to the point where you decide it is just time. 19 years is a
