This week I dove into the Academy of Achievement's glorious audio vault and pulled out tape from two

legends of the game, Payton Manning and Herschel Walker.

In some ways, they could not be more different. One retired just as the other signed his first contract.

One grew up the son of a football player. One never knew a thing about the game until he found himself playing it.

One grew up with money, the other without. One is black and one is white. One was a

quarterback, one a running back. But they are both sons of the South and men of faith,

with overlapping views about sports and education and hard work, and both could make you catch your breath when you watched them on the field.
