Peter, welcome back to Real Vision.

It's great to be back.

So we spoke almost a year ago.

Yes, it seems like a century.

I know, but it is a year.

And we spoke right after Russia shocked much of the world by invading Ukraine.

What's your assessment of the war right now?

Well, I'm happy to say that not just my assessment, but everybody's assessment about how this world was going to shake out has been wrong.

The Ukrainians have outperformed by every possible measure.

The Russians have underperformed by every possible measure.

The Americans have gotten involved in a way that I don't think anyone thought was possible.

And the Europeans, even almost to every single country, have gotten involved in a way that's helped keep Ukraine alive.

This is still Russia's war to lose.

And the challenges that Ukrainians are going to face in the second year are far greater than what they faced in the first.
