We continue with the subject of animation today and we have a great guest.

He's had a lot of experience in animation.

We met him when we worked with him as the director of the animated film The Rise of the Guardians.

His next animated film was very innovative in the look and earned him an Oscar for Spider-Man

into the Spider-Verse.

You've also had experience in live action as a second unit

director on several films. What was your path to get to where you are now?

Yeah, it was a my path was a really kind of a sort of twisty one in that, you know, when I first started getting interested in film, I was just getting into my 20s and I had left art school because I you know I was

basically too young and didn't have a real grasp of what art actually really was but

I had learned that I was more interested in narrative storytelling than I was in just creating like a single image.

So that was, I was, you know, like a big comic book reader, gigantic gigantic film fan but at the time I had

no no inkling that I could work in the industry in any capacity it just didn't you

know where I grew up my circumstance it just it just never

entered my head as reality but I started after I left I left school and I was kind

of you know just knocking around doing minimum wage jobs and drawing on my own and painting.
