Peter Pettergrew is remembered almost exclusively as a coward and a traitor.

A man who betrayed his closest friends, sold out an innocent family,

and aligned himself with Voldemort purely out of fear.

And after Voldemort's first downfall, he faked his own death, framed a childhood friend for his crimes, and spent over a decade hiding in the shadows, rather than face the consequences of his choices.

And yet, Peter Petigrew was sorted into Gryffindor.

The same house as Harry Potter, the same house as Dumbledore, the same house as some of the bravest witches and

wizards in history.

And so naturally, today we're going to take a deeper look at Pettergru's character, as well

as the actions of the sorting hat in an effort to understand perhaps the greatest missorting

in history.

And while I do genuinely agree that the sorting hat operates without error, there are a few examples that really stick out and have impacted my confidence in the sorting hats abilities, with perhaps the best
