He believes that the complexity of the world could only be explained by an intelligent designer.

And that was Professor Michael Hunter on the 17th century scientist Robert Boyle. Our first interview this week is with Peter England, a Swedish historian and author who is also permanent secretary of the organisation

that awards the Nobel Prize for Literature. Peter's book, The Beauty and the Story,

has just been translated into English. It tells the history of the First World War through

the stories of 20 different people who experienced that conflict.
