Pete Hegseth holds a job that requires a willingness to use force when necessary to protect Americans and U.S. interests.

And the Secretary of Defense is not only willing, he has openly prayed for merciless violence

against forces fighting the U.S. Let every round find its mark against the enemies of righteousness

and our great nation. Give them wisdom in every decision, endurance for the trial ahead,

unbreakable unity, and overwhelming violence of action

against those who deserve no mercy. Preserve their lives, sharpen their resolve, and let justice

be executed swiftly and without remorse that evil may be driven back and wicked souls

delivered to the eternal damnation prepared for them.

For the wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

We ask these things with bold confidence in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ,

king over all kings, and amen.

Hankseth received the text of that prayer from a military chaplain who reportedly readed four troops taking part in the raid that captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The secretary would like the entire chaplain corps to pray this way.

He said many of its members are too politically correct and too focused on self-help and self-care for warriors.

But my guest notes it is unprecedented for the Pentagon to talk about any military conflict as a kind of religious conquest.
