Machu Picchu would be shutting down indefinitely.

Authorities have closed the famous Machu Picchu site with rescue teams evacuating 400 tourists Saturday.

The closure comes as anti-government protests in Peru continue to spread across the country.

Protesters are demanding the resignation of the country's president.

More than 40 people have been killed and clashes with security forces.
