Summary

Some of Jesus' contemporaries thought of His death as the execution of a criminal. Others saw it as an act of political expediency. Today, R.C. Sproul teaches that the Bible gives us God's own interpretation of the cross of Christ.

What is the meaning of the cross?

0:06.0

testimony of the centurion at the foot of the cross who said, surely, this man was the

1:59.8

son of God. And what was going on here?

2:03.6

Was it simply an event of a poor, misguided, Jewish rabble-rouser who was put to death through

2:13.1

some political chicanery that took place in Palestine two thousand years ago?

2:20.0

Was this one a deluded charlatan, guilty of treason against both the synagogue and the state?

2:29.4

Or was this God incarnate going to the cross to die a cosmic death of atonement that would have radical

2:36.7

consequences for the eternal destinies of thousands and millions of people.

2:43.8

Indeed, for the whole world.
