Luke 18 verses 18 through 27 it says a certain ruler asked him good teacher what must I do to inherit eternal life

why do you call me good Jesus answered no one is good except God alone Jesus continues he says you know the

commandments you shall not commit adultery you shall shall not murder. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony. Honor your father and mother. The ruler responded. He said, all these I have kept since I was a boy. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, you still lack one thing. You still lack one thing.

Sell everything you have and give to the poor. I'm going to be honest if Jesus said this to me,

I'd kind of freak out. Sell everything you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven then come

follow me verse 23 when he heard this he became very sad because he was very wealthy the title

of the message and what our main theme is what we're going to be talking about today, is perspective for your

new year. Perspective for your new year. I am not a goals person. I'm just going to be honest with you.

I don't like goals. I'm not very good with goals. I don't like write out resolutions. That's just my

things like that. And so every year when it comes to the fall, my wife and I, we kind of take time

to pray and think about what the new year is going to behold for us, what we're going to try

and focus on, what were some good things that happened this year, what are some things that

we want to take into the following year. But I think today what I want to give us a head start to

is January is coming. We got a couple weeks left of 2023, but I think for

24, already start thinking about and praying about what you want your new year to look like.

What you want to take into 2024, begin processing, how was this year? How did I do? What are some

things that I can take into the new year?

What are some things I want to capitalize on? What are some things I want to leave behind? What are,

you know, just start beginning to think and process that. And I think as we come into the new year,

I want to challenge us today and encourage us around our perspective. The perspective that we have around stewardship and specifically our heart.
