0:00.0 | Hi, welcome back to the Personality Hacker podcast. My name is Joel Mark Whitt and I'm |
0:07.5 | Antonio Dodge. So I realized something about myself probably in the last year. I measure |
0:14.8 | the intelligence, the sophistication, the wanting to be somebody's friend, really, all |
0:22.0 | these things around a person's self-awareness. So the more I perceive another person to |
0:29.7 | be, the more self-aware they are, the more I'm interested in connecting that person, the |
0:35.0 | higher intelligence I think they have, the more articulate I think they are. Like I just |
0:39.0 | I give them a boost of a bunch of other characteristics that may not be valid just |
0:44.8 | based on how much they're aware of themselves. And I think that's a bias I have. I don't |
0:50.1 | think that's necessarily a good metric. I just recognize that that's how I judge other |

1:24.7 | thinking about that. And I was like, well, that's partly true to me. And I guess I could |
1:29.4 | say that self-awareness is really one of those things we can only see our progression |
1:35.2 | in hindsight. Like imagine self-awareness is like climbing a mountain. I'm half way up |
1:40.2 | the mountain. I'm not going to look up the mountain and say, oh, I lack awareness |
1:44.8 | about myself. I mean, I may around specific topics that cause me pain, like if I'm a |
1:49.7 | feeler, which I am. And maybe I my thinking processes are not up to, up to par like I wish |
1:55.6 | they were. I might go, oh, I wish I had more awareness around this. But we usually think |
