You're listening to the Girl Nextdoor podcast. I'm Erica and I'm Kelsey. We're two former next door

neighbors and good friends who love a good chat and a good laugh. We're inviting you to come

0:12.8

on in, have a drink, and stay a while. Hey friend. Hey friend. So today's episode is all about personal

0:19.1

policies. Maybe those things big and small that you just

0:23.2

always or never do as a general rule and as something you've pretty consciously made a choice about.

0:28.7

So this is related to boundaries, which are my favorite. I think it's one of your superpowers.

0:33.9

I do enjoy a boundary. And it's kind of related to saying no, but it's also about

0:39.1

choosing how you will approach something ahead of time so you don't have to decide every single

0:43.5

time it comes up or debate. It's just really more about knowing yourself and what works for you

0:49.1

1:08.7

out, kind of giving you like guide rails even. I think a personal

1:13.0

policy can also be this objective as in not emotional thing that can help you make the best

1:19.6

decision for yourself, especially in those situations that could get emotional or that

1:25.3

like deal with other people or you might suddenly find

1:29.1

yourself in a situation or put on the spot and you can fall back on this personal policy

1:34.7

because you've already decided. I think it really helps you avoid the unfund situation of

1:40.9

agreeing to do something that you don't actually want to do.

1:44.3

We've all found ourselves in that situation.

1:47.8

And finally, I think it's just another great example of a high five to your future self,

1:52.6

which you know we love.
