Hello, thank you for joining me once again for Give Him 15.

Several years ago, my dad, Dean Sheets, wrote a wonderful devotional entitled, The Gold that Washed Ashore.

It's now out of print. You can't order it.

I assume you could find a used one somewhere, but anyway, they're out of print.

In the book, I contributed a short quote from one of my books for each day.

It was a great devotional.

Dad was old school in his sermonizing, building masterpieces of homiletic eloquence.

Each day this week, I'm reading one of his devotionals, adding a few, or adding a writing from one of my books.

The title of today's devotional is persistent faith.

Mark 7, 25 through 30.

For a certain woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, came and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, a syrophonician by nation,

a sarof Phoenician by nation. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her

daughter. But Jesus said to her, let the children first be filled,

for it's not meat to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. She answered and said to him,

Yes, Lord. Yet the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs. He said to her, for this say, go your way.

The devil is gone out of your daughter.

And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out.

And her daughter laid upon the bed.

From Dad's devotional, he says, nowhere in the Gospels do we have a grander example of a persistent yet humble faith which secures God's blessings.

This woman had naked faith, faith stripped of all emotion.

She persisted, even though there was no in rush of excitement, having come to Christ on behalf of a demon-possessed daughter, and she turned four obstacles into stepping

stones.
