If you ever have the occasion to visit a Jewish synagogue, you will notice a large cabinet

in the front of the sanctuary where they keep the Torah scrolls.

It's called the Ark.

And quite often, they will have the Hebrew words da-lif-ni-mi-ata-o-med engraved over

the top of the ark.

The words mean no before whom you stand.

They serve as a reminder or a sentinel to conduct yourself properly in the presence of

God's Word and remember the reverence of the place and the moment.

To be clear, God is the eternal sovereign creator of the universe who was, is, and is

to come.

He provides, heals, and guides us by His grace to salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

He is that God.

But truthfully, don't we all occasionally diminish His deity by approaching Him too casually?

Maybe referring to God is the big guy or the man upstairs.
